The first cars I saw
Showing off the undercarriage

One of the non obvious things about living in the bay area, is the American love affair with cars! You see old, lovingly restored cars on the road daily. And social clubs organized around cars. Nor Cal Car Club.
So at the Marina I was grumbling about all the people in my way when I saw the cars in the first picture, kinda like grumbling about all the Cambodians at Anchor Wat on Buddha’s birthday. Anyway cool cars, a few jacked up to show off the underside, most in beautiful condition, sweet.

Flags at the WWII memorial for Submariners
Windy ride at the Marina today. Love it!

Did a quick marina loop.

New yard sign, the city in it's uber elite-ness has deemed the Marina useless and wants to turn it into a business park with some subsidized residential units.

They did not submit this to the citizens 'cause they know we hate the idea of loosing access to the bay just so they could jack up their pay and benefits. Google Bell, Ca.

We gotta stop the government cash grabs, in November vote out the incumbents!

What a gorgeous day! Warm and windy, great for a ride.

Today the only dog on the ride was on leash.

Found these by the trail near the bridge, flipped on the parking brake, stood up, wandered over, took the photo, sat down, brake off, and on with the ride.

Bridge over the estuary, connects San Leandro & Alameda
Monday ride was the airport loop, perfect weather for a ride.

I wish dog owners were more responsible and that their dogs were a little bit trained. There are posted off leash and on leash areas. Sunday saw a dog almost cause what would have been a bad bike wipeout, and daily I get to assess in on leash areas if the dog is on leash and under owner control (oxymoron) or a danger to me and themselvs.

Think people, how many doggie bones will I break when bowser throws himself under my wheels?

Richmond bay trail. On Sunday the 15th of August we met some members of the Yahoo group Recumbents_of_the_East_Bay at the intersection of Central Ave. in Richmond and the Bay Trail for a ride along the shore out to Richmond, round trip was just over 14 miles. This is a regular ride, 3rd Sunday of the month.

I purchased my ICE Trike from Steve Schwartz at BayTrailTrikes.com. Steve was the ride leader, and advised some tweaks to my Trike, Thanks Steve!

This was a fun ride, wonderful bay views, flat and paved. We stopped in Richmond at a Starbucks for fuel. 1987 LIFT! Nice folks and ride chats, well paced, I hope we can do this ride again.

One super neat feature of the trike, is that it folds in half. This let me put Nelle’s mountain bike and my trike in the back of my midsized SUV. No rack required!

And despite the bay views, the Great Blue Heron posing, the only photos I took were at Starbucks!

Fighter jets landed at Oakland today, wonder if it was another stew gone wild?

Another nice ride. Yesterday was cold, windy, and the fog was low enough so it was wet, and I wimped out at one mile.

Today was nice a sunny on this side of the bay, the photo is the Oakland airport tower, Marin's Mt.Tam and SF in fog.

My ride took me to the airport, hill loop and the marina loop, eight and a half miles.

Long hard work day, lucky to have this on my door step, well about 2 miles away. Lovely 8 mile ride, did the hill loop, marina loop and the par course loop.

It really does and it needs one

Its a Trike made by Inspired Cycle Engineering in the UK.

Unlike any other bike (HPV or Human Powered Vehicle) a Trike doesn't have a kickstand and you can't lay it down. So when you get off the Trike any slope or breeze gets it rolling.

Why a Trike? Well age has taken its toll, my shoulders have arthritis which made riding my Gary Fisher mountain bike painful after even a short ride. I have always been an active bike rider, and need the exercise daily. I live near the San Francisco bay trails, wonderful places to ride.
